Hello everyone,
the new Apertis v2022dev2 development release is now available!
Apertis v2022dev2 is the second development release of the Apertis
v2022 stable release flow that will lead to the LTS Apertis v2022.0
release in March 2022.

This release ships the linux 5.10 LTS kernel and is the first one to be
based on Bullseye.
Some highlights for this release:
* Rebase to Debian Bullseye
While Bullseye has not been released yet, this release is already
based on it, bringing all kind of goodies across the whole stack.
* Maynard shell and AGL compositor
The Maynard shell built on top of the libweston-based AGL compositor
has now replaced the legacy Mildenhall compositor and launcher.
* WPA3 support in ConnMan
After landing upstream the implementation of WPA3-SAE authentication
using wpa_supplicant, it is now available in Apertis
* Switch to PipeWire+WirePlumber by default
The Pipewire multimedia manager and the WirePlumber policy manager
replace PulseAudio as the default audio manager, granting more
efficiency and flexibility, better integration with Flatpak, and
more powerful policy mechanisms.
* Updated licensing-compliant TLS stack
The TLS stack has been updated to the latest upstream versions,
using OpenSSL by default and limiting GnuTLS to GPL-2-compatible
programs.
* OVA VirtualBox appliance
OVA appliances make the initial setup in VirtualBox as frictionless
as possible.

Hello everyone,
the new Apertis v2021.1 stable release is now available!
Apertis v2021.1 is the second stable release of the Apertis v2021
release flow. Apertis is committed to maintaining the v2021 release
stream until December 2022.

This release only ships the security updates from Debian Buster and the
latest LTS Linux kernel on the 5.10.x series.
In addition, the GCC compiler now builds Position Independent
Executables (PIE) by default: this aligns Apertis to what Debian has
already been doing for a while so it is a pretty safe change, but it
still has the potential to surface other bugs. A whole-archive rebuild
is planned for the next release to ensure all binary packages reflect
the new default.
